A Delta County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was injured while responding to and investigating a 911 hang-up call on Thursday.
During the investigation, the deputy made contact with the resident at the location. While speaking with the homeowner, an unsecured door to the residence allowed the homeowner’s dog to exit the home and bite the deputy.
The deputy received medical evaluation and treatment for the injury and is expected to make a full recovery.
In accordance with standard procedure, the dog has been placed under quarantine pending verification of its vaccination records and the completion of the investigation.
The incident remains under review.
“The Delta County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the concern and support shown for our deputy. We are thankful the injuries were not more serious and wish our deputy a speedy recovery.”
No further information will be released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
