Friday, September 6; Officers worked a call of shots fired in the 200 block of N. Collegiate. An individual in a business was handling a firearm when the firearm discharged. The projectile from the firearm left that business through a window and traveled across a parking lot, entering another business and damaging a window. No one was injured and the discharge was accidental due to what appeared to be improper weapon handling.
Friday, September 6; Latoya Monique Jones (39) was arrested in the 3700 block of Castlegate on a warrant for Injury to a Child or Elderly Individual. The arrest stemmed from an initial call in April 2024 in conjunction with Child Protective Services. Jones was booked without incident.
Friday, September 6; Officers were serving a Lamar County warrant for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance on Ashley Matilda Perez (40) at an address in the 300 block of NE 28 th St. Officers located Perez hiding under a trailer in the area. Perez was found to be in possession of methamphetamine as well as Fentanyl. Perez was charged with the warrant as well as the two new possession charges. She was booked with minimal difficulty.
Saturday, September 7; Officers received a complaint of an assault in the 3200 block of Clarksville after a victim reported that a boyfriend assaulted them. The victim stated that she was struck with the suspect’s fist in the face and then choked with the suspect’s arm around her neck. The known suspect had left the scene prior to officers arrival.
Sunday, September 8; Officers took a report of a theft in the 1700 block of NE 34 th St. The victim, a physically disabled individual stated that an associate who had assisted them with some physical labors had taken numerous items belonging to them as well as using their vehicle without permission. The victim said that the suspect has copies of their identification, vehicle titles, and birth certificate. The suspect also is in possession of the victim’s car keys as well as keys to the residence. The victim said that the suspect has used the car without permission and has gone on several out of town trips. Victim has asked for property to be returned but the suspect has not returned it. The investigation is ongoing.
Monday, September 9; Officers worked a complaint of a Deadly Conduct in the 3900 block of Bonham St. The victims said they were leaving the station there when a subject tried to flag them down to talk to them on the parking lot. They did not know the subject and would not talk to him. The subject then got into a vehicle and “Cut the victims off” as they were leaving the lot. The suspect them stopped in front of the victims and as they passed, pointed a handgun at them. The responding officer gathered evidence and was able to establish the possible identity of the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
Officers made 62 traffic stops, 12 adult arrest, and answered 368 calls for service for this reporting period.
