Friday, September 20, 2024; An officer responded to a civil standby in the 400 block of NE 11th . While he was on the scene the officer recognized Rona Shae Avance (37) whom he knew to have an outstanding warrant from Pardons and Parole. The revocation warrant for Possession of a Dangerous drug was served and Avance was taken into custody without incident.
Friday, September 20, 2024; Officers went to the 1600 block of Bonham St. where they received a report of a stolen U Haul truck. The rental company had rented the truck to an individual in June with the truck to be returned the following day. The renter had not returned the vehicle yet. The victim had contacted the suspect, who said another individual had the truck and was living in it. The vehicle was entered as stolen and was recovered in Dallas, Texas the following day. The event is under investigation.
Friday, September 20, 2024; Officers were notified of a Burglary of a Residence in the 600 block of SE 9 th . The victim stated that numerous persons entered his residence without permission and assaulted him. As the subjects were leaving the area, they fired a weapon at the victim from a vehicle. The victim then returned fire at the vehicle with his own firearm. There were no reports of any injuries from the gunplay at the scene. The scene was secured and evidence was collected. The case remains under investigation.
Friday, September 20, 2024; Officers observed a known individual, Priscilla Ann McCall (44) in the 400 block of Pine Bluff. Officers were aware McCall having an outstanding Felony warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance. They made contact with McCall and arrested her without incident.
Saturday, September 21, 2024; Officers were dispatched to a hit and run accident in the 2400 block of Simpson St. Officers were advised by victims that John Michael Daniels (38) had intentionally struck the vehicle the victims were riding in and then had left the scene. One of the victims has an Emergency Protective Order forbidding Daniels to make contact with her but claimed that Daniels had been making threats to her all day via text. Officers could not locate Daniels at the time of the report. The next day, 09/22/2024 Officers made contact with Daniels in the 900 block of Pine Bluff St. Daniels admitted to the officers that he had intentionally struck the victims’ vehicle and then left the scene. Daniels was arrested and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was booked without incident.
Saturday, September 21, 2024; Officers made contact with Gary Wayne Tims (45) at a local park after noticing that he was there during hours when the park was closed. Tims was with another individual. Tims was found to be under the influence of some substance. Officers made a search of Tims’ vehicle and located marijuana and Ecstasy narcotics in the vehicle. Tims was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and processed without incident.
Saturday, September 21, 2024; Two Burglaries of Motor Vehicles were reported. One in the 3600 block of Castlegate and another in the 4700 block of Stephens Drive. Both victims advised the vehicles were unlocked and someone entered them without permission. Stolen was a Ruger .380 handgun and a Beretta 9mm handgun. Evidence was collected and the case is under investigation.
Sunday, September 22, 2024; Officers responded to a call of theft at Wal-Mart. The suspect, Carrie Jo Pitts (45) had been caught “Skip Scanning” items. Pitts was accused of not paying for over 400.00 and attempting to leave the store. She was arrested and charged with Theft over 100.00 but under 750.00. A criminal history on Pitts revealed that she had two previous convictions of theft and so her charges were enhanced to Theft under 2500.00 with two or more convictions, a Felony. She was processed uneventfully.
Sunday, September 22, 2024; Officers stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of SE 12th Street for an equipment violation. They made contact with Julian Jasso III (26), the driver. Officers detected the smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and conducted a search of the vehicle and located a vape pen containing THC oil. Jasso was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance. He was booked without incident.
Officers made 30 traffic stops, 8 adult arrest, and answered 293 calls for service for this reporting period.
