Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 8:41am; the Paris Fire Department responded to the 1400 block of West Shiloh Street; observed an open fire burning and extinguished it before Paris PD arrived to assist. Paris Fire had been to the location on multiple occasions for open burn and had cited and warned 51-Year-Old Salvador Aguinaga Peralta for the repeated violations. Peralta was placed under arrest for City Ordinance Violation-Open Fire. Incident to arrest, Peralta was found in possession of methamphetamine and subsequently arrested for State-Jail-Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 9:09am; during inventory of 51-Year-Old Salvador Aguinaga Peralta’s property, a benefits card bearing someone else’s name, along with a receipt from a transaction made on the card, was located. The cardholder could not be reached. The card was placed into evidence pending a Felony-Credit or Debit Card Abuse investigation.
Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 10:58am; a Community Service Officer spoke with a victim of a Felony-Forgery Financial Instrument, occurring in the 2800 block of Lewis Lane. She stated that she had been reviewing the business’ financial records and learned of four counterfeited checks with her name being forged on each check. Two of the checks totaling $3820.00 had cleared the bank. Payments were stopped on the other two checks. The forgery in under investigation.
Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 1:36pm; a victim stated to a Community Service Officer that on September 3, she had driven to a business in the 2500 block of Lamar Avenue to use the restroom, leaving a male subject and his Pitbull dog in the vehicle; returning to find to inside of her vehicle in disarray as in things were scattered everywhere. The male subject blamed the Pitbull; but the victim now believes that the male subject created the scene as a distraction to steal her $350-dollar .22 Bond Arms Derringer handgun from the glove box. A Felony-Theft of Firearm case will be investigated.
Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 7:36pm; two victims, a husband and a wife told a Paris Officer that as they were riding their bicycles through the area of Northeast 19th and East Booth Street, they were shot with Orbeez guns by kids hanging out of a vehicle’s windows. They initially thought the weapons were real firearms and were in fear for their lives. They tried shielding themselves from the gel Orbeez rounds but were struck in their backs and arm. No words were exchanged, or any type of provoking occurred, leading up to the incident. No medical attention was required. The four unknown suspects, three of which were wearing mask are believed to be young black males. The suspect vehicle is described as an unknown type of SUV, dark gray in color.
