On Mar. 13, Officers responded to a disturbance in the 500 block of SW 1st. They met with two subjects who had been in a disturbance. It was immediately apparent that alcohol was a factor in the disturbance. It was determined through investigation that a victim had been struck in the head by a large wooden stick which imbedded wood shards into their flesh as well as having been cut several times with a broken cup. The victim’s vehicle had also been damaged by the suspect breaking out the windshield with the same wooden stick. The suspect, Melissa Kay Keisler (47) was highly intoxicated. Keisler was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. She was booked and placed in jail. The victim refused treatment at the scene.
On Mar. 12, the Paris Police Department received a report of a disturbance in the 1500 block of Clarksville St. Officers met with a victim who advised that Kerry Ray King (44) had assaulted him and stolen his mobile phone. The victim advised that King was still in the area. One officer located King on 16th SE but upon attempting to initiate contact with him, King fled on foot. King was pursued for a short distance until being taken into custody. Due to King forcibly taking property from the victim during an assault, he was charged with Robbery. As a result of his fleeing the officer he was charged with Evading Arrest. The victim’s mobile phone was recovered in the 1300 block of Clarksville. It had been damaged beyond repair.
On Mar. 12, Justin Ryan Sims (33) was arrested in the 500 block of Deshong Dr. after officers responded to a disturbance at that location. The victim, a family member of Sims, related that during an argument Sims had choked her, cutting off her oxygen and causing her to lose consciousness for a short period. Sims had outstanding municipal warrants as well. He was charged with Assault of a Family Member by Impeding Breath as well as the misdemeanor warrants and was transported without incident.
On Mar. 12, Officers of the Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force received a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle, a 2006 Hyundai Azera, was sold to a known individual with an understanding that it would be paid for in increments. The individual/Suspect, never made a payment on the vehicle to the victim. When contacted, the suspect individual advised that the vehicle had broken down at the Loves Truck Stop in Paris several weeks prior to the report and that he, the suspect, had never gone back to get it. The vehicle is now gone from the Truck Stop and cannot be located. The vehicle was entered as stolen and the location is unknown at this time.
Officers made 19 traffic stops, 9 adult arrest, and answered 119 calls for service for this reporting period.
