On June 25, a Paris PD officer was involved in a brief pursuit which started in the 2900 block of NE Loop 286. The officer captured an oncoming vehicle to be traveling at 100 mile per hour. The officer turned around to stop the vehicle and the driver of the vehicle turned off the vehicle headlights and accelerated. The officer was unable to catch up to the vehicle and the pursuit was stopped when he lost sight of the suspect vehicle. A few moments later officers were advised that a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle had been involved in a one car accident in the 4200 block of Clarksville St. The driver of the vehicle had fled on foot and was not located. Witnesses advised that the vehicle had been moving at a high rate of speed and had lost control and spun off the road. The vehicle was towed and a possible identification of the driver was obtained. The investigation will continue.
