On July 9, Roderick Terell Doolittle (39) was arrested in the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue after he failed to pay for items at the store. Doolittle had “Skip scanned” the items and then attempted to leave the store without paying. Doolittle had identified himself as Terell Reynolds, claiming he had a California DL. Once officers arrived and questioned him, he admitted his identity. A warrant check revealed that Doolittle had an outstanding warrant for Assault Causing Bodily Injury from an incident occurring in November of 2019. Doolittle was arrested on the warrant as well as being charged with Theft with two prior convictions and Failure to identify as a fugitive from justice.
On July 9, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 800 block of Pine Bluff Street for a vehicle license violation. The driver fled, attempting to evade officers by making frequent turns and accelerating. The vehicle eventually struck a sign in the intersection of 5th and Tudor St, which disabled the vehicle. Officers arrested the driver, Jazaria Washington (22) for Evading Arrest in a Vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle was released.
On July 9, Officers received a report of a Burglary of a Motor Vehicle which occurred in the 3100 block of Clarksville St. The victim advised that a handgun and a cell phone were stolen from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked on the apartment parking lot. The investigation will continue.
On July 9, Officers responded to a call of an individual with a firearm firing shots in the Booker T Washington Homes Apartments. Caller advised that a female got out of a vehicle and began firing what the caller believed to be a .22 caliber firearm in an easterly direction, returned to her vehicle, fired more shots into the air, and left the area. Officers attempted to interview witnesses but all present denied any knowledge of the incident. Investigation will continue.
