On July 7, Officers received a report of a theft of a mini excavator from 3500 SW Loop 286. The equipment was rented by a contractor working for TXDOT and had been stolen from the location between July 4, 2025 and July 7, 2025. Officers were able to gain information that the machine had been equipped with a tracking device. Officers were able to track the vehicle to a remote Delta County location where they located the discarded tracking device. Officers are examining evidence and speaking with witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.
On July 7, the agency received a report of a fraud. A victim was selling a truck online. She was contacted by a suspect who agreed to send her a check and then have money returned to him to pay a shipper. The victim cashed the check and returned the agreed money. The check was a forgery, causing the victim $4000.00 loss. Officers have contacted the suspect and the investigation continues.
On July 7, Officers received a report of a theft in the 2200 block of Curbertson. The suspects removed an air conditioning unit from the rear of the residence. This was the condenser unit for a central air hvac unit. The property was a rental so there is no exact date/time of the theft. The investigation is ongoing.
