A home was deemed a total loss early this morning after flames fully engulfed the structure in the 600 block of northeast 14th Street. The cause remains undetermined at this time.
At about 4:15 a.m., Paris Fire Department responded to the structure fire at 648 N.E. 14th Street, where crews on scene reported flames had heavily engulfed the home.
“We fought the fire defensively … until such time as crews could enter the structure,” according to Paris Fire Department fire reports.
Live wires, according to reports, were sparking on the ground and Oncor was contacted. The house has been vacant for several years and had no furnishing.
“Once fire was under control, crews worked throughout doing salvage and overhaul.”
Fire Marshal Clyde Crews was dispatched to the scene, and was unable to determine an exact cause of the fire.
Paris Fire Department fire crews cleared the scene at about 6:30 a.m., when the fire was deemed out.
