Paris Police responded to a security check in in the 200 block of Lamar Ave at 3:55 A.M. on December 3, 2022. Officers located a small group of people around the plaza area and they advised that they had just got off of work and decided to walk around downtown. Officers located their vehicles and observed a pistol in the seat of one of the vehicles. Brandon Edward Parks, 23, of Blossom, claimed ownership of the pistol and advised the officer to place it in the center console. When the console was opened, the officer observed a baggie of cocaine and a baggie of marijuana in plain view. Parks was then arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful carrying a weapon. He was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to a burglary of a residence in the 2100 block of E Cherry St at 7:18 A.M. on December 3, 2022. The victim reported that they had been awoken during the night by a known person coughing. The person had apparently crawled into the residence through an unlocked window. The victim knew the person and had allowed the person to stay at the residence in the past. He victim reported that they later found that the person had stolen money out of his wallet. The investigation continues.
Just after midnight on December 5, 2022, Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Woodlawn Ave for an expired registration violation. During the stop, the driver, 49 year old Robert James Horton, of Paris, was found to have discarded an object that contained methamphetamine and a used needle. Horton was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. Horton was later placed in the Lamar County jail.
Paris Police responded to 192 calls for service and arrested 16 persons over the weekend ending at midnight on December 04, 2022.
