On Aug. 29, Officers stopped a vehicle for an expired registration in the 1100 block of W. Houston. The passenger, Jeffery Allen Johnston (30) was found to have outstanding Parole Warrant for Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle / Repeat Offender. Johnston was arrested on the warrant without incident and placed in jail.
On Aug. 29, a Paris Police Officer assigned to the NE Texas Auto Theft Task Force was performing vehicle/trailer inspections when he discovered a trailer that had been reported as stolen out of Balch Springs Texas. Through follow up investigations the officer determined that the trailer had been bought of Facebook Marketplace and that the current owner in possession had gone to Seagoville Texas to purchase the trailer. The investigator was able to determine who the victim bought the trailer from as well as other pertinent information. The case was forwarded to the Balch Springs Police Department. The trailer was seized as evidence.
On Aug. 29, an officer recovered a stolen handgun that came to his attention after being pawned at a local pawnshop. The gun had been reported as stolen in Westminster Colorado in 1978. The current owner was cooperative with the investigation and provided information for the person they purchased the gun from. The information was forwarded to the reporting agency in Colorado.
On Aug. 29, a Burglary of a Business was reported at The Reach Center in the 500 block of Lamar Avenue. The incident is under investigation and other details may become available as the case develops.
