On Aug. 15, Officers responded to the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue where they arrested Colena Maria Hill (52) for “Skip Scanning” items at the self checkout registers. Employees showed officers where Hill had failed to scan items on two different registers. Hill denied any previous theft complaints but a Criminal History Check revealed two prior convictions of Theft. Hill was charged with Theft under $2500.00 with two or more convictions, a Felony. She was processed without incident.
On Aug. 15, Officers were notified off a Robbery which had occurred in the area of the 1700 block of E. Washington St. The victim advised that he had been given a ride by several subjects who he knew from school. One of the subjects, Ivan Jackson Howard (17) had asked to borrow the victim’s phone. Howard then refused to give the phone back and ran from the vehicle. He was pursued by the victim and when the victim caught Howard and tried to retrieve his phone, Howard assaulted him and then indicated that he had a weapon. The victim knows that Howard frequently carries a handgun and so was deterred from further attempts to recover his property. Howard was later located and questioned about the incident. Evidence was collected leading to probable cause to arrest Howard and charge him with Robbery. He was processed without incident.
