During a celebration program following the Martin Luther King Jr. parade on Jan. 18, the Paris Police Department was recognized for their outreach efforts by the ‘People Helping People of Paris, Texas’ organization.
Paris Police Chief Richard Salter and Officer Penny accepted the award during the luncheon was held at the Paris New Generation Church gym.
Ms. Joan Mathis was also recognized and presented a plaque, and a bouquet of yellow roses for her efforts within the community.
“Ms. Mathis has been and continues to be a dedicated, outstanding, valuable role model to the community. She left impactable words with the audience,” said Paris PD.
Police Outreach Coordinator Kimmie Snowton was recognized and presented an award for his persistent efforts to improve the police department’s relationships with community groups, businesses, and charitable organizations.
In his absence, his daughter Jasmine Snowton accepted his award.
Members of the ‘People Helping People of Paris, Texas’ organization are Yulanda Reeves, Samantha Hughes, Jesse Council, Shatar Moore, Deshanza King, Catrena Jones, Marie Hill, Tonya Council, Cornelius Reeves, and David Hill.
