Carolyn Sue Wortham, 87, of Brownwood, formerly of Lamar County, passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at Hendrick Medical Center in Brownwood, TX.
Memorial services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31st at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be made in Forest Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Wortham, the daughter of Morris Jack Davis and Grace Reid Davis, was born Jan. 19, 1939, in Lamar County, TX. At an early age she moved to Chicago for a number of years. Upon returning to Lamar County, she operated Reid’s Grocery which had belonged to her aunt and uncle prior to their passing. Later she closed the store and began working in home care in Dallas for a time. She then moved to Tennessee to live with her daughter, Mary, until moving to Brownwood to live with her son, Bobby.
She was preceded in death by her father, Morris Jack Davis, her mother, Grace Reid Sullivan, a brother, Joe Davis, and a grandson-in-law, Mark Gray.
Survivors include three children, Donna Conrad, Bobby Sanders, and Mary Sanders, grandchildren, Julie Gray, Lance Conrad and wife Jacqueline, Daniel Rutledge and wife Sarah, and Nicole Davis, and great grandchildren, Ely Hacket, Miles Hacket, Natalie King, Freddy, Max, and Sky along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
