A 20-year-old Paris man sits behind bars after assaulting two firefighters at about midnight on Friday.
Paris police responded to a narcotics violation in the 1700 block of Polk Street at about 12:05 a.m. on Nov. 25, where Stevie Darrell Gardner, III, of Paris, was found to be under the influence of an unknown substance, according to officers. Reportedly, the officers also observed a small amount of marijuana in the room.
“As officers were attempting to have Gardner assessed for the intoxicant, Gardner attempted to leave the scene and was detained,” said Paris Police Officer Curtis Garrett. “Gardner then resisted and struck two firefighters while resisting being arrested.”
Gardner was charged with two counts of assault on a public servant, harassment of a public servant and resisting arrest.
Gardner was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail, where he’s being held on $16,000 in bonds.
