There’s a new top dog in town! The ever-popular Labrador Retriever’s 31-year record-breaking reign has come to an end, after the American Kennel Club recently announced its nationwide rankings.
For the first time in American history, the playful and adaptable French Bulldog was ranked America’s most popular breed.
While it may come as a surprise to some that the loveable Lab’s 31-year stay at the top has come to an end, the French Bulldog has been quietly climbing the charts for many years.
Over the past decade, the Frenchie has gone from 14th in 2012 to number 1 in 2022, and registrations have increased more than 1,000% in that time period.
French Bulldogs are known for their friendly, playful, and affectionate character. They are generally sociable and get along well with people and other pets, making them excellent family pets. They are also known for their adaptability and can thrive in both small apartments and larger homes.
In terms of attitude, French Bulldogs are generally happy and outgoing dogs, with a tendency to be both curious and mischievous. They enjoy spending time with their owners and are often content just to be near them. They also are known to be stubborn, which can make them a bit challenging to train at times. However, with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, they can learn quick and become well-behaved companions.
