Paris Fire Department recently purchased dash cameras for their fire trucks so they can enhance their training.

“We purchased five cameras to be fitted into all our fire trucks and our deputy chief vehicle,” Paris Fire Chief Mike Vogel said, “this will help us enhance our training as we respond to calls.”

Not only will the new cameras allow firefighters to the ability to study fire call outs, and vehicle wrecks, it also adds an extra safety aspect for the first responders.  Vogel also said that using the camera’s when it comes to structure fires will also aid the fire marshall in his investigations.

The cameras are fitted to record on a USB chip and have the ability to self turn-on in cases such as being involved in a wreck.

“We already have some cameras installed and will have all of them up and running within the next week,” Vogel said.

Further adding that having the ability to utilize technology in this manner is an excellent continuation of the department always striving to keep up to date and the community safe.
