At Monday night’s Paris City Council meeting, the Council unanimously voted in favor of leasing the Grand Theater to Paris Grand Theater Project, Inc.
This non-profit 501c3 was formed over 18 months ago with the goal of restoring the Grand Theater to operation.
The process will take time, as the building still contains asbestos which must be removed. The lease covers a span of 30 years, with two 10 year options available.
Paris Grand Theater Project, Inc. will be responsible for all repair, maintenance, restoration and operational costs throughout the term of the lease.
Details on how the Grand Theater would operate, and what types of events would be held within have yet to be determined.
