Paris EMS has officially launched its Prehospital Whole Blood Program, allowing emergency medical personnel to begin potentially lifesaving blood transfusions before patients arrive at the hospital.
The program is designed to improve emergency care for patients experiencing severe bleeding or traumatic injuries, where every second can make a difference.
By making whole blood available in the prehospital setting, Paris EMS personnel can begin critical treatment at the scene or during transport, rather than waiting until a patient reaches the hospital.
The launch follows extensive planning, preparation, training and teamwork to bring the program to life.
“This is an exciting milestone in our commitment to providing the highest level of prehospital emergency care to the communities we serve,” Paris EMS shared in announcing the launch.
The department said the initiative represents an important step forward in its mission to provide exceptional emergency medical care.
“Better prepared. Earlier treatment. More opportunities to save lives.”
The program is now officially underway, providing Paris EMS with another critical resource to help improve patient outcomes during life-threatening emergencies.
