Last week Shelly Braziel, Director of the Lamar County Human Resource Council and Meals on Wheels, with board member Henry Shaw accepted 15 brand new air conditioning units from Paris EMS paramedic Colton Webb.

“Typically we buy box fans for them, but this year we decided to give cold air producing units for as many as we could,” Russell Thrasher, paramedic supervisor said.

He continued to say, “in a unique collaborative; we are helping 15 families not only with a new AC unit but the United Way has volunteered to install them by an electrician at  no cost to the families.”

Paris EMS uses 100 percent of the money collected during their annual Fill-The-Boot campaign during the Christmas holiday season to help Lamar County children and elderly through projects such as this throughout the year.

“With the heat index nearing 110 degrees, these folks need some relief, and we hope this helps them a little,” paramedic John Janes said.
