A traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall in Washington, D.C. is on display through this weekend in Durant.

Through the weekend, the wall will stand at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex as one of its 33 stops across the nation.

“58,318 Americans are listed on these panels,” said Tim Tetz of The Wall That Heals. “Everyone of those left behind a friend or family member of some sort and you get to experience that first hand.  You get to hear those folks as they come down.  You get to see them touch the name, remember who they were.”

On Veterans Day 1996, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) unveiled a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., designed to travel to communities throughout the United States.

The 53-foot trailer that carries The Wall That Heals transforms to become a mobile Education Center.

Since its dedication, The Wall That Heals has been displayed at nearly 600 communities throughout the nation, spreading the Memorial’s healing legacy to millions.

The exhibit is staffed 24 hours a day and there are lights, so people can visit any time day or night.
