The Paris City Council is excited to announce that during their Wednesday, Nov. 20, special meeting, the council voted to enter negotiations with Rose Beverly to fill the vacant city manager position.
Beverly has accepted the invitation to move forward with discussing terms of employment. The selection results from Beverly’s successful engagement with community stakeholders and department head panels and a final interview by the city council.
The more than six-hour council meeting consisted mainly of an executive session to interview Beverly and two other finalists. The council action took place in an open session near the end of the meeting. The city selected executive search firm Baker-Tilly Public Sector Executive Recruitment to lead the nationwide search and is now guiding employment talks between Beverly and the city.
While negotiating contract terms and an official start date continues, the council anticipates her beginning the new role in the coming weeks.
“The City Council is optimistic about this new chapter and looks forward to the positive impact Rose’s vision, experience, and commitment will bring to Paris.” Mayor Mihir Pankaj said.
Beverly is currently the City Administrator of Berea, KY, and has over nine years of experience in government leadership. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona Global Campus, holds a Real Estate License, and is past president of the Idaho Association of Counties.
In Berea, Beverly has collaborated with engineers to develop a capital investment project plan to prioritize and organize city street paving projects. The CIP planning includes related underground and above-ground infrastructure improvements. Beverly also leads sustainability projects and strategic planning efforts.
She values the importance of building regional and state relationships to promote shared goals and expressed excitement about becoming a member of the Paris community. She looks forward to working with internal and external stakeholders to continue making the city a wonderful place to live, work, grow and play.
This announcement is the culmination of months of diligent work by the city council and Baker Tilly to complete due diligence, leadership assessment, and background review of the three finalists interviewed by the council. The process attracted 55 applicants.
The three finalists visited with community stakeholders during a meet and greet on Tuesday, Nov. 19, toured city facilities, and met with department heads before the council interviews on Wednesday.
Interim City Manager Robert Vine will continue staff leadership of the city until the council hires a city manager.
