North Lamar seniors Jayci Coward and Carson Preston were awarded the Miller Time Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship, named in memory of Justin Miller, a minor league baseball player and North Lamar graduate, recognized Coward and Preston for their compelling essays highlighting the impact of organized sports on their lives.
Jayci Coward, daughter of Jayson Coward and April Mallory plans to attend Tarleton University in the fall to obtain a degree in nursing. Carson Preston, son of Andy and Elisha Preston, plans to attend Texas A&M-College Station in the fall majoring in engineering.
Miller Time Nonprofit Organization hosts an annual golf tournament to raise funds to support these athletes.
