North Lamar ISD kicked off the Texas Reads One Book event on Monday, April 15th with an assembly of over 1,000 students attending.
Excitement was in the air as the North Lamar Panther cheerleaders and athletes joined the students to hear North Lamar Athletic Director Aaron Emeyabbi introduce Dallas Cowboy Head Coach Jason Garrett in a videotaped recording as he read the first chapter of Friendship According to Humphrey.
Every kindergarten through fifth grade student received a book to read with their family.
Over the next three weeks, North Lamar will post guest readers on the NL website and Facebook pages so students may read along.
Parents are encouraged to take photos of their family reading together and post them to social media using the hashtag #NLReads19.
