For their prepared three pieces of music, Circus Bee March by Henry Fillmore, Dance Movements Mvt. 4 by Philip Sparke, and Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral by Richard Wagner, they earned the highest rating of ‘Superior’ from all three judges.

The band was then asked to look over a piece they had never seen before and perform it for three different judges.  For this portion of the contest they also earned ‘Superiors’ from all three judges.  By earning superior ratings in both Concert and Sight Reading, the band was awarded the UIL Sweepstakes trophy.  This marks the 21st consecutive year under Jones the band has achieved sweepstakes.

“The students have worked very hard this spring to perform some very difficult music at a very high level,” said Jones.  “It is a joy to work with dedicated students every day.”
