myparistexas.com, northeast Texas’ fastest-growing news website, has launched a sports-only website offering unrivaled free sports coverage of every team across every league fans care about and follow.
Geoff Heppes, sports director of 1st Street Media, is the driving force behind the website and a well-known sportswriter in Lamar County.
“Sports has been a huge passion of mine for the majority of my life,” said Heppes. “I used to despise all recreational activities until I reached my sixth-grade year at Pioneer Heritage Middle School in Frisco.”
It was then Heppes discovered an athlete with “more intensity and drive that I can recall.”
“Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest NBA players of all time, was getting buckets at will against the Boston Celtics in a Los Angeles Lakers victory. Watching the ‘Black Mamba’ carry his team to the finish line made me realize there is so much depth and meaning to sports.”
He continued, “It was easier for me to forget about my failure of a youth sports career. I was thinking less and less about my strikeouts in T-ball, getting thrown out at first base from the outfield, and my zero-effort soccer performances. Instead, I realized how enjoyable it is to identify greatness, elite skill, and strong intangibles in the world of sports. Greatness is something I intend to be a constant for our brand new website for sports coverage.”
Having covered sports in Lamar County for the past four years, Heppes said he wants to give back to the community who welcomed him with open arms when he made the move from the metroplex to fulfill his dream of covering sports news.
“For those who helped me so much and for a deserving community, my mission is to give back,” he said. “Providing quality sports coverage is my mission. And, more than anything, these kids deserve it. Moving from Frisco and graduating from Baylor University, I still feel like I stick out like a sore thumb. However, the kindness this community has shown me — led by the athletes — makes my passion burn brighter. The local athletes possess a drive, work ethic, and togetherness like none I have ever witnessed. There is so much positivity surrounding local sports, and it increases my drive to work to the best of my abilities.
For sports fans looking for score bugs, game updates, coach and athlete feature stories, hunting and fishing news, national sports, game picks, and more, netsportspage.com is the place for you.
“My goal is to not only provide reliable sports news to our great area but more importantly to help put these kids on the map. The advantages and resources student-athletes in the metroplex have should not negate a chance for a hardworking, home-grown talent in the 903 area code. Instead, my intent is to level the playing field.”
