Police found approximately 80 empty shell casings at Booker T. Washington on Sunday morning, after a block-party ended with gunshots being fired due to a fight, injuring at least four victims.
Around 2 a.m. on Mar. 31, the Paris Police Department received several 911-calls reporting multiple gunshots at a large, unauthorized block-party at Booker T. Washington, Paris Housing Authority Residential Property.
According to preliminary investigations, the gunshots resulted from a fight between two male subjects near the 600 building.
“Approximately 80 empty shell casings of various caliber weapons were recovered from the scene and there were at least four victims with non life-threatening injuries,” said Paris PD. “One adult female victim refused medical treatment at the scene but later arrived at the Quality Health Emergency Room at 6:04 a.m. with a possible gunshot wound to her leg.”
No arrests have been made as of the time of this press release statement (Apr. 2, 2024 at 9:15 a.m.), however investigators are reviewing security video footage of the event in an effort to identify and arrest those involved.
“The Paris Police Department requests that witnesses who observed or have knowledge of those involved in the incident, contact the Paris Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit at 903-737-4138, and relay that information so that those responsible can be brought to justice.”
Multiple departments responded to the incident, including Paris Police Department Officers and Investigators, Reno Police Officers and Lamar County Sheriff’s Office Deputies.
