Around 5:52 p.m. Sunday evening, the Reno Police Department responded to an ATV accident that occurred in the 3700 block of Lakeshore Drive in Reno after an onlooker witnessed the wreck and called for help.

According to the report, one occupant was trapped in the side-by-side and another was ejected.

“An ATV side-by-side was southbound in the 3700 block of Lakeshore Drive and entered a curve too quickly and rolled over three to four times,” Reno Police Chief Jeremy Massey said, “the two-seat ATV was occupied by two adults in the seats, wearing seatbelts, with a juveniles in each of their laps, unsecured.”

“Both juveniles were transported from the scene by Paris EMS to Paris Regional Medical Center,” Massey said.

Their current medical status is unknown at this time however, it was believed that their injuries were non-life threatening at the scene.

Paris EMS, Paris Fire Department, Reno Police Department, and Reno Volunteer Fire Department were all called to the scene Sunday.

The Reno Police Department wants to remind citizens that it is illegal to operate ATVs on public roadways under most circumstances.

“Always operate ATVs with caution and following manufacturer’s guidelines, including wearing seatbelts and only allowing the number of passengers approved for the vehicle,” Massey said.

No citations were given on scene, and officials said alcohol was not a contributor.
