Michael Dewayne McBride, 70, of Paris Texas died on June 5, 2024
Michael, known to all as “Mickey”, was born August 21, 1953 in Cushing, OK to Perry and Eula McBride. He attended school in Cushing where he spent his childhood. He was an over-the-road truck driver by trade. It was a career that he loved, and missed dearly once his declining health forced him to retire.
He had a passion for yardwork, landscaping, and gardening. Be it flowers or vegetables, he loved gardening. He seemed to be the most happy when digging in the dirt, and delighted in sharing what he grew with others. He could often be found outside in the yard, accompanied by his beloved dog “Snoop”, his faithful companion right up until the very end.
He was known in his later years for his acts of generosity. One instance, would be giving an entire apartment full of nearly new furniture to a coworker, who was struggling due to their wife’s chronic illness. Another time he’d noticed a young man who would pass by the house each day, walking to work, so Mickey went and bought him a bicycle. These are just some of the examples of his acts of charity.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kelly McBride, a step-brother, Butch Adams, and a step-father whom he loved, Walter Adams. He is survived by his sister, Renna Hanlon and husband, Mike, of Paris, Texas. A son, Eric “Tex” McBride, of Gillette, WY. Daughters, Elizabeth Bundren of Dunlap, IL, Mandi Bundren and husband Rich Maroney of Charlottesville, VA. Grandchildren: Josie Adams, Caylin Bundren, Summer Lucas, Mason Lucas and wife, Kay, and Jared Pyle. Great-Grandchildren: Addilyn, Damian, and Hazel. Nephew, Victor Bridewell and Niece, Nikki Bridewell-Hankes along with Great-Niece & Nephew Harlow and Wyatt, as well as many cousins.
He will be dearly missed by his closest friend, Helena, and her husband, Mark Collins, of San Antonio, TX, whom Mickey thought of as family.
The family would like to pay special thanks to Kate Chadwick and the staff of Family Medical Clinic of Paris for all of their care and kind words. He always spoke so highly of them. Your kind words following his passing have been appreciated.
Cremation was performed under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home of Paris, TX.
In honor of Mickey’s wishes, no official memorial service will be held.
