Martha Sue Burnett, 86, of Paris, passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at Pine Tree Ranch Assisted Living with her family by her side.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18th at the Pavilion of Hickory Grove Cemetery with Sammy Archer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 – 7 p.m.
Mrs. Burnett, the daughter of George Hodnett and Susie Cuttrell Hodnett, was born March 13, 1939, in Lamar County, TX. She graduated from West Lamar High School. Martha began working at Westinghouse and then Safeway where she worked until the store closed. She then worked at the Chisum ISD where she retired. Martha was a member of Highway Full Gospel Church where she worked in the nursery. She loved working with children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Billy Joe Burnett, a son, Timmy Joe Burnett, and a sister, Bonnie Cunningham.
Survivors include a son, Billy Burnett and wife Penny, three grandchildren, Tensie Burnett, Jalee Wright and husband Nathan, and Braley Burnett, three great grandchildren, Kaysiah Burnett, Kayson Burnett, and Conley Jo Wright and two nephews, Greg Clark and wife Kristin and Jeffrey Clark along with a host of friends including her special friend, Virgie Allen.
The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Bercher, Platinum Hospice, Martha’s nurse Lexie Drake, and the loving staff of Pine Tree Ranch Assisted Living for the care given to their loved one.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Hickory Grove Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 538, Roxton, TX 75477.
