A pilot safely landed his plane in an open field south of the runway at Stan Stamper Airport in Hugo, OK, after having problems with the landing gear.
“The Comm Center received a call this afternoon of an airplane having problems with their landing gear as it was trying to land at Stan Stamper Airport in Hugo,” said Choctaw County Sheriff Terry Park on Tuesday.
The pilot landed the plane south of the runway and no injuries were reported.
“The plane belongs to the pilot whom works for air ambulance.” said Sheriff Park. “Hats off to the pilot landing in a soft grassy field vs. a hard runway.”
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has taken over the investigation.
