Around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, Paris Police responded to a theft complaint at Atwoods on N Main Street.
“Officers were told that 45-year-old, Jackie Vanderburg, had taken tools without paying for them and then left the store,” said Paris Police Lt. John Berry.
After making contact with Vanderburg, he was found to have the tools concealed on him.
“Vanderburg was placed under arrest for the theft and due to previous convictions, the charge was enhanced to a felony charge,” Berry said.
Vanderburg was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2-A, up to 2 ounces.
He was taken to Lamar County Jail where no bonds have been set.
