On Monday evening, around 6 p.m., Paris police officers responded to a shoplifter complaint in the 1800 block of Clarksville Street.
“Officers were provided a description of a white female who was said to have been concealing merchandise on her person. Officers observed the female exit the business behind a white male and then both entered a vehicle with the male driving,” said Paris police Lt. John Berry.
According to Berry, the male began to attempt to leave and was told to stop but instead accelerated the vehicle.
Due to a mechanical problem, the vehicle stopped and contact was made with 35-year-old, Jason Prunty and 36-year-old, Theresa Davidson.
“Officers located several items of stolen merchandise in Davidson’s possession and she was placed under arrest for theft of property which was later enhanced to a felony charge due to Davidson having two previous convictions for theft.”
Prunty was placed under arrest for evading arrest/detention with a vehicle.
