Paris Police Chief Bob Hundley announced via Facebook, Lieutenant John Berry will be retiring from the Paris Police Department effective August 13th after taking a positive at Paris ISD.

Lt. Berry has served with the Paris Police Department since February 1991; 27 years and 6 months.

Chief Hundley shared this letter on Facebook sharing stories and thanking him for his service.

“I’m looking at his initial applicant background investigation. The final paragraph of this document asks for a summation of the applicants General Reputation. This is what I wrote in 1991…John’s basic reputation is that of an all-round upright, moral, good person. John is held in high regard by people that he works with, is friends with, and his employers.”

“Man, a statement that is as true today as it was all those years ago. Lt. Berry has worked uniform patrol, SWAT, CID, some of these assignments in supervisory roles. His most recent assignment was running the Office of Professional Standards.”

“We want to publicly thank John for the many years of service to our department and our community. We wish him continued success in his new position with PISD. We already know he’ll be good at this job.”

Thank you Lt. Berry for your service and we wish you all the best at Paris ISD.
