A home was lost after a fire broke out in the travel trailer behind Borderline Cafe Monday night.
Powderly Volunteer Fire Department’s Lieutenant Justin Claypool said crews were dispatched to 9786 Hwy. 271 N. in Powderly at about 9:45 p.m. and they were able to keep the blaze contained to the travel trailer.
“The firefighters that assisted on this fire did an outstanding job, and we all worked well as one team,” Claypool said. “We were lucky and did not have any firefighters nor civilians injured.”
No other structures were harmed. There were two occupants in the home, however, they evacuated the structure unharmed. Crews cleared the scene at about 11:15 p.m., and the cause of the fire is still unknown.
Volunteer fire departments on the scene included Powderly, Faught, Chicota, Lamar Point and Hopewell.
