The Downtown Food Pantry is collecting “stuffing” to give to those in need this holiday season and the community is rallying together to donate as many boxes as possible.

Ignite Southside Youth Ministry saw the need for donations and decided to see how many they could collect.

“We work with the Downtown Food Pantry every month helping stock shelves for them but when we saw they had a need for stuffing mix our group started collecting boxes,” said youth pastor Phil Spann.

In less than two weeks, the group collected 283 boxes.

‘We encouraged our youth to bring a friend and bring some stuffing,” said Spann. “If we’re going to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ it’s important we serve other people.”

Spann said they teach their youth to be very service orientated and together try to do as much with and for the community as possible.

With the distribution of two per household already underway, the Downtown Food Pantry is still in need of donations.

Those wishing to donate stuffing or other food supplies for those in need this holiday season can drop it off at 124 W Cherry Street, Paris.
