If you saw them in the arena, you’d think local team ropers Kirby Hill and Bradley Ball had been roping together forever but the newly crowned #11.5 Equine Hemp Solutions WSTR Finale XVII Champions, winning over $300,00 in Las Vegas, have only competed together a handful of times.
“What a ride,” said Hill, who resides in Blossom. ” Every single team roper that walks into the arena at South Point plans to win, but lady luck has different thoughts! Fortunately she shined on me this time. What an amazing opportunity.”
While a lot of the spotlight is on the PRCA World Finals at the Thomas and Mack Arena, thousands of the best ropers in the world enter the prestigious Ariat XVII World Series Team Roping at South Point, hoping to secure a piece of the $13 million dollar prize pot.
Ball, of Sulphur Springs, said, “You know as a kid growing up rodeoing and team roping I never thought I would have a chance to change mine and my family life but I guess God he bigger plans for me then I knew. I am super thankful and blessed to have won the amount of money I did this weekend with one of my best buddies.”
With eight divisions over nine days of competition, Hill and Ball made four runs on Wednesday to secure the win, roping their final steer in 7.05 seconds for a total time of 30.82 seconds on four head.
In addition to the $303,000 prize money, the team also won H. Holden Bronzes, Cactus Trophy Saddles, Gist Silversmiths Trophy Buckles, dinner for 2 at Michael’s 5-Star restaurant, Yeti Tundra Coolers, Cactus Saddle Pads, Resistol 30X Chute Boss Hat certificates, Mule Deer Rifles certificates, and Love’s Travel Stop gift cards.
Hill is the owner of Legends of Team Roping, roping for men over 40-years of age and women of any age. For more information, click here
The team also wanted to thank their sponsors Fast Back Ropes and Cactus Ropes.
