For 32-years, Chevis High has not seen the world like most of us…he was born colorblind.

“Life for 32 years without color was very plain, frustrating, and saddening,” said Chevis. “Growing up I had friends give me hints on which colors were which because I was embarrassed to speak out on the fact that I was colorblind. When people found out they would constantly ask me what color was this or that and it was very upsetting at times.”

Recently, Chevis found EnChroma online and immediately wondered what it would be like if he could actually see color.

“I thought even if just once I saw color, I would feel….normal….for once in my life.”

But not even Chevis could hold back his emotions when the glasses arrived and he, finally, saw color.

“When I put those glasses on it was a sense of shock, amazement, and pure beauty. The world is so beautiful and I honestly think we stay too busy to admire God’s work. When you spend your whole life only wanting one thing that you thought you would never have can be depressing at times.”

“EnChroma gave me the one thing I thought I would never have!!! Life is beautiful, I hope after people read this they will take at least 5 minutes to just go outside, look around, and truly appreciate what God placed before them!”

According to colorblindawareness.org, color blindness (color vision deficiency, or CVD) affects approximately 1 in 12 men (8%) and 1 in 200 women in the world.

EnChroma explains how to glasses work on their website.

Part optics, part neuroscience, EnChroma® glasses unlock a new world of color for people with color blindness. Our glasses are designed to make you look good, too, so better color vision can be a seamless part of your everyday routine. The EnChroma lens technology is based on over a decade of research effort to understand the causes of color blindness and how to engineer an optical technology platform to address the problem.
