A new restaurant offering homemade pizza, salads, soup and more Is coming to Paris with a tentative opening date of October.

Tyler Tongson originally planned to open Tyler’s Pizzeria – Buffet and More next to Cave Wave on Lamar Avenue, however, he has since found a new and bigger location on Hwy. 271.

“Our pizzeria will now be in the old Bodacious Bar-B-Q building on Hwy. 271 which is twice the size of the original building,” said Tongson. “We will have much more seating and a 1200 sq. ft. arcade area.”

Locals will be able to dine in or take out with the possibility of delivery in the future.

“We will have homemade pizza’s and an oversized salad bar for the buffet as well as soups available,” said owner Tyler Tongson. “We will also serve beer and wine.”

There will also be a video game room (arcade room) and a banquet room with its own hot plates and drink system.

Tongson, who has been in the fast food restaurant business for 34-years, has seen first-hand what it takes to build and run a successful restaurant from his father.

“My father was the first Asian-American owner-operator in McDonald’s and brought the McDonald’s to Paris Texas in 1974.”

“I started working for him 35 years ago at the age of 12 and when we got out of McDonald’s we opened a Popeyes in Lawton, Oklahoma and I ran several restaurants there for him for about 15 years until I bought him out and then sold out to come home and start something in my hometown.”

Not only has Tongson graduated from Hamburger University at the top of his class in every course they offered, but while in business with Popeyes he earned the Gold Plate award which at the time was only given to one restaurant domestically.

“I feel that I’ve somewhat done my time with burgers and chicken and that pizza was the obvious next step for me and since doing franchising for almost 35 years I felt that I have the experience and knowledge to go about it on my own in my hometown.”

Since returning to last year, Tongson set up a mini test kitchen at his house and has been working with many different recipes and ideas to make sure that everything is perfect before he opens his doors.

“I am using several recipes from my family and also picking the brains of friends and relatives for other possible recipes to use in the restaurant. All of the ingredients from the pizza sauce, salad dressings, soups, etc. will be made from scratch in the store and not some processed junk thrown together and put on a plate.”

Everything served at Tyler’s Pizzeria – Buffet and More will be made from scratch in-store and guaranteed freshness.

The restaurant is set to open in October 2019.
