In July, the board of directors of New Hope Center of Paris entered into discussions with Lamar County Human Resources Council, Inc. (LCHRC), along with several funders to develop new programming that would be easier funded and better for the community.
As a result, the New Hope Board of Directors made the decision that was best for its clients and the community as a whole, which was to dissolve and allow LCHRC to operate a Transitional Shelter. This decision was made to remove barriers that prevented the New Hope Center from being eligible for state and federal funds.
On August 25, LCHRC’s Board of Directors voted in favor of developing and implementing new programming with a similar transitional model. The expectation is this new program will be launched on Oct. 1. The Horizon House Transitional Center will continue to operate without closure, something that was very important to both boards of directors and staff.
“Both boards, staff, and funding partners would like to thank the community for your support as we work together to provide the best possible services to our friends and neighbors,” said executive director Shelly Braziel.
