Lamar County first responders will be among the first to receive the coronavirus vaccine beginning today.
“The City of Paris EMS, Fire Dept. and Police Dept. as well as first responders from Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, DPS, and first responder organizations from around the county will begin receiving the initial dose of the Moderna vaccinations on Tuesday,” said Paris EMS on their Facebook page. “Please keep these brave, resilient folks in mind as they take every precaution to stay safe so they can take care of our community.”
On Monday, Paris Regional Medical Center (PRMC) launched its internal coronavirus vaccine clinic and began distribution in accordance with CDC guidelines.
“Paris Regional Medical Center has received an initial allocation of COVID-19 vaccines, and we are in the process of distributing them in accordance with prioritization guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the federal government and the state of Texas,” said the hospital in a press release.
The hospital said once the vaccine becomes more broadly available, they will strongly encourage the community to get vaccinated.
