Show your support for National Police Week and adopt an officer!

“We are blessed with exceptional officers in Lamar County who risk their lives for us each and every day,” said Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop president Amanda Willows.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. This year, National Police Week will be held May 12th – 18th.

On Monday, April 1st, beginning at 12 p.m., all officers in Lamar County will be going up for adoption for their National Police Week gift bags.

“We have teamed up with the local police wives to make National Police Week a very special time for those who protect us,” said Willows. “These bags will contain items that will help our officers while they’re on duty and help keep them safe.”

Adoptions will be $50 per officer and the gifts will be given to them during National Police Week in May.

“The adoption list will be posted on the Lamar County Adopt-A-Cop Facebook page at 12 p.m. on Monday.”

To adopt your favorite officer you will need to call (903) 905-1229 once the list is posted!

“Thank you, Lamar County, for backing our blue!”

If anyone would like to donate items for the bags, please call the number listed above.
