Facing their nemesis from years’ past, the Prairiland Lady Patriots entered Commerce High School with a strong desire to win. The Lady Pats (12-2, 3-0) did just that in convincing fashion. Prairiland downed the Commerce Lady Tigers in straight sets Tuesday night by a final score of 25-9, 25-14, and 25-17.
Prairiland has now swept Commerce in each of the team’s last two matchups, with the last win coming last season at home for the Lady Pats.
The Lady Patriots got solid effort from players across the board in the dominant victory, which was Prairiland’s third district win in a row. Senior middle TJ. Folse led the charge with 9 kills, 6 blocks, and 1 ace, while fellow senior middle blocker Reese Parris added 8 kills and 2 aces. Sophomore setter Chloe Raley added 15 assists, 7 digs, and 2 aces.
Sophomore outside hitter Kyndal Yaross contributed with 5 kills, 9 digs, and 4 aces, while junior outside hitter Ali Sessums had 3 kills and 8 digs. Hanna Cope and Lanna Riney added to the winning cause with 9 assists and 3 aces, and 12 digs, respectively.
The Lady Patriots will play again at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Emory Rains, who also owns an undefeated record in district play.
