The Paris Lady Wildcats volleyball team remembered the sting from its five-set loss to Van in the area round of the postseason in Royse City a year ago. In the loss, Paris led 2-0 in sets, but Van claimed the next three to win the match and end Paris’ season.
On Tuesday, the Lady ’Cats avenged that loss with a win at home over the Lady Vandals in four sets by a final score of 24-26, 25-14, 25-21, and 25-19.
Paris had strong performances across the board despite dropping a close first set. Junior outside hitter Macey McAmis was stellar in the win with a game-high 19 kills to go with 16 digs and 6 aces behind the service line. Junior middle blocker Presli Chapman was a force on the front line with 16 kills, 4 blocks, 2 digs, and 2 aces, while junior setter Lilly Lewis compiled 8 kills, 35 assists, 15 digs, and 1 ace. Paris’ lone senior Hannah Gibbons also had an impact on the match with 4 kills, 4 blocks, 5 digs, and 3 aces. Sophomore setter Eva Vogt also distributed the ball well with 15 assists and quality defense.
The Lady ’Cats aim to win again at 4:30 p.m. Friday at home against Quinlan Ford.
