Justiss Elementary School is proud to recognize third-grade student Khailyn Ladell as its October Student of the Month for her outstanding character and commitment to doing what is right.
As part of the school’s new Student of the Month program, students are recognized for demonstrating the Core Essentials Character Value of the Month while reflecting the campus theme, “We Create the Light.” October’s character value was Integrity, defined as doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
For Khailyn, integrity is not simply a word—it is something she demonstrates through her actions every day.
“I am positive that Khailyn’s sweet face is located next to the word integrity in the dictionary,” said her third-grade teacher, Jennifer Hamm. “She is 100% all in on learning, being kind, and just doing the right thing at all times. She is a student I can count on and trust with anything. She has outstanding manners and is someone who should make Justiss and Paris ISD proud. She creates the light every minute of every day.”
Justiss Elementary counselor Andrea Irwin, who has known Khailyn since kindergarten, shared that her remarkable character has been evident from a very young age.
“Khailyn has always been thoughtful, reliable, responsible, and kind,” Irwin said. “She is attentive to the needs and feelings of her classmates and teachers, always looking for ways to help without seeking attention or recognition. She is honest, encouraging, and a natural leader. When I think of integrity, I think of Khailyn.”
Irwin also shared a touching example of Khailyn’s character outside the classroom. Each morning as she gets out of the car, Khailyn makes sure her brother and sister have everything they need for school and haven’t forgotten anything important. It is a simple but meaningful example of the responsibility, kindness, and thoughtfulness she demonstrates daily.
Through its Student of the Month program, Justiss Elementary celebrates students whose character and everyday actions make a positive difference in the lives of others.
