Joy York, age 78, of Paris, Texas passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018, in Paris.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Meadowbrook Gardens.
A visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 pm on Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Roden-Pryor Funeral Directors.
Joy Laverne Haley was born on March 18, 1940, in Paris, Texas to Willis Oscar and Nona Dee Rushings Haley. She attended Central School. Joy married Frank York in July 1955. Having married young, Frank and Joy later earned their GED together. Joy went on to Paris Junior College and earned her LVN license. She worked at Bonham Hospital, St Joseph Hospital, and Hopkins County Hospital before she retired.
Joy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a strong, self-reliant woman who lived by her own standards and never wavered from them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Billy and Eddie Haley, a daughter, Janice York, and a son, Jimmy York, as well as two great-grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Frank York; two children, Cathy (York) Lollar and Gary York; nine grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Boren, Lanita Proctor, and Martha Malone; a brother, Richard Haley; as well as numerous other loving family members.
