Sue lived a very full life that was centered around her relationship with the lord from an early age. Her father had a trucking business in El Campo, and she was very proud of the fact that she began driving a truck for her father when she was just 12 years old. In her teen years, Sue developed a love for music and singing in her church choir and was popular for her vocal abilities and singing on the local radio station in El Campo. That talent led her to Baylor University, where she studied until her father passed away when she was a sophomore. She transferred to Sam Houston State University where she met Her husband Frank (Buck) Baker, and both finished their degrees there. Sue’s degree was in elementary education. Sue taught school for over 30 years and also continued to pursue her own education by attending Texas Women’s University, where she received a Masters Degree in Early Childhood.
Sue had many interests and talents and always wanted to be the best at whatever she did. She was a very talented seamstress, taught by her grandmother, she began making her own dresses and clothes as a child while recovering from tetanus that she contracted at age 9, from stepping on a nail in the barn. She received blue and red ribbons as a seamstress in the early seventies at the State Fair of Texas. Sue always had a passion for flying and received her pilots license in the early 1970’s along with her husband Buck. Both she and Buck flew and maintained license well into their seventies and flew their Cessna 150 for many years. Sue attended art classes and used those skills to design sets for church cantatas, vacation bible schools and special events over the years in the different churches that she served in. Sue taught bible studies in Sunday School in all of the churches that she served in. During the early 60’s, Buck and Sue were involved in youth group sponsorship at First Baptist Church in Plano Texas. After Buck’s death, she got involved with the women’s singing club in Paris Texas, where she resided until her death. These were just a few of Sue’s interests and passions.
Sue is now the perfect version of herself with the Lord in heaven, and her greatest hope and wish is that all would seek the Lord and accept him as their Lord and savior. She spent a lifetime dedicated to the Lord and the church and will not soon be forgotten.
