During his 20-year military career, he served with distinction, including honorable service in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. Among his many military honors were the Air Medal and the Bronze Star with the “V” device for Valor—recognition of his bravery, leadership, and unwavering commitment to his country. He retired from the Air Force in 1978.
After retiring from military service, Jim moved his family to Paris, Texas, where he continued to serve his community through work with both Paris Independent School District and North Lamar Independent School District until his final retirement.
Jim shared 62 loving years of marriage with his wife, Lyda Margaret Casey. Their enduring bond was a foundation of strength and love for their family.
He is survived by his wife Margaret and their three children: James (Tim) Casey and wife Denise, Melinda Casey Kinslow and husband Jeff, and Mary Beth Casey Miller and husband Joe. Jim is also survived by his siblings: Lewis Casey and wife Terry, Carol (Sue) Varney and husband David, and Linda Lane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Raymond Casey, and his brother Harold Casey.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 7th, at 10:00 a.m. at Bright-Holland Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., led by Mr. David Varney and Mr. Kyle Kinslow. Full military honors will be rendered by an honor guard from Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.
