James Maurice (Jim) Wirta, 75, of Paris passed away August 20, 2020 in Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, August 24, 2020 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Gunter officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove. There will not be a formal visitation.
Jim was born on May 12, 1945 in Bovey, Minnesota a son of Fred N. and Mary Ann Maki Wirta. His family moved to Texas on his birth date in 1950. He was a chemist at Campbell Soup Co. and had a lawn service. He was an Episcopalian and served in the U.S. Air Force. Jim loved watching Nascar races and wood working.
He married Myra Joyce on April 28, 1978 in First Christian Church. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his aunt that raised him, Signe Crofford and siblings, Richard Wirta and Michael Crofford.
Jim is survived by his siblings, Carole Wilson and spouse, Wade of Bivins, TX., Terry Wirta and spouse, Jacque of Plano, Olivia M. (Mickey) Yung and spouse, Bob of Houston, DuWayne Lee Wirta and spouse, Linda of Hertford, NC and several nieces and nephews.
