James A. “Karate” Jones, 75, of Paris

James A. “Karate” Jones, 75, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at his home.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Myre officiating. Burial will follow in Woodard Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

James, the son of Elzie & Doshie Cannon Jones, was born Nov. 23, 1943, in Deport.

He attended Chicota Schools. Karate was a ranch hand for a number of years and worked for Eugene Norwood House Moving for thirty years.

He was an avid hunter & fisherman and enjoyed teaching his nephews hunting & fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters; Nancy Jones, Lois Jones, Bertha Barber and Sharon Behan.

Survivors include his wife, Penny, children; Danny Ray Smith & wife Lisa of Clarksville, William Dwight Smith & wife Monica of Paris and James Douglas Smith of Paris, grandchildren; Christine Nicole “Sissy” Smith and Daniel Ray “Bubba” Smith, III, two sisters, Patricia Jones and Mary VanRiper both of Powderly along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.

Casket bearers will be: Jack Ingram, Ray Ingram, Tony Roesler, C. D. Haskell, Larry Haskell, Jr., Dwight Smith, Doug Smith and Danny Smith. Honorary bearers will be: Waylon White and Danny “Bubba” Smith, Jr.
